About me
I am an environmental engineer and atmospheric scientist specializing in climate change, urban air pollution, and environmental sustainability. My work focuses on understanding how climate variability, urbanization, and human activities affect air quality, precipitation patterns, ecosystem processes, and public health in tropical and high-elevation environments.
I hold academic degrees in Natural Sciences and Ecology from Lithuania, Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure from Sweden, and a PhD in Engineering Science from the United States. This international training has shaped my interdisciplinary approach to environmental research, combining atmospheric science, climate analysis, field measurements, data science, and applied environmental solutions.

I currently work at Universidad de Las Américas in Ecuador, where I teach and conduct research in environmental engineering, climatology and meteorology, atmospheric pollution, climate change, and sustainability. My research has addressed urban air quality, extreme climate events, El Niño-related variability, high-elevation climate change, ecosystem carbon fluxes, and climate adaptation in Latin America.

EMPOANDES 2025-2028
Climate Services Education and Co-creation for Andean Region
I participate in EMPOANDES, an Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project focused on strengthening climate services education in the Andean region. The project supports universities through updated curricula, training activities, open educational resources, and regional collaboration aligned with World Meteorological Organization competencies and local climate-service needs. My involvement contributes to climate-change education, applied environmental research, and capacity building for more climate-resilient societies in Latin America.
T.A.I.T.A
Team of Adaptation in Tropical Andes
I am part of T.A.I.T.A, a Belmont Forum Advancing Leadership Program team focused on strengthening climate resilience and water security in the Tropical Andes. The project explores community-managed micro-reservoirs as locally grounded adaptation solutions that connect scientific knowledge with local governance, livelihoods, and community needs. My involvement focuses on translating climate and environmental science into practical, inclusive adaptation strategies for vulnerable Andean contexts.
